Program Coordination Internship
Responsibilities:
Building a Grassroots Leadership Training Program:
- Raising awareness of the need for leadership training
- Creating opportunities for citizen and community input/involvement in developing the program
- Mobilizing people and resources to achieve goals
- Planning and implementation of meetings and classes
Specific task areas are listed below:
Event and Meeting Planning:
- Schedule and reserve space for meetings
- Arrange logistics including transportation, childcare, food and supplies for meetings
- Assist with planning and carrying out of class sessions and events
- Provide logistical support at class sessions
Program Development:
- Work with Executive Director, curriculum committee, and board to develop additional and implement current program offerings as needed
Administration:
- Maintain files on areas work covered within internship duties
Experience and Skills Needed:
- Professional Experience Requirements: Interest or experience in community organizing, community development, event planning or related field
- Demonstrated Skills/Abilities Requirements: Interest or abilities in as many of the following areas as possible are highly desirable and will help equip you for the position: leadership development, group facilitation, volunteer coordination, training/adult education, event planning, and fundraising, and working with diverse communities
- Communication and Other Skills Requirements: Proven skill in communicating verbally and in writing, strong people skills including an ability to work with diverse groups, and competency with personal computers are all required. Necessary computer skills include proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheet software. A sense of humor and ability to work in a sometimes busy office are both essential.
